Greetings, friends and neighbors,

Susan and I want to thank you again for making this year’s Annual Meeting such a success. The turnout, food, and conversation were truly the best yet, and I believe it reflects a strong rebirth of community spirit after the challenges of the past ten months.

Building Committee Update

The newly formed Building Committee is already hard at work. Under Dennice Stone’s leadership, the group has met and divided responsibilities among members. Tim Edmond has been in contact with contractors and is preparing a formal Scope of Project document. Several members have already walked through the Hall with potential contractors to evaluate repairs and upgrades.

This early momentum is very encouraging, and the committee will continue to provide regular updates as options for the Hall’s future take shape.

Survey

The committee has prepared a questionnaire that will be sent out shortly.

  • Purpose: gauge community sentiment about whether to repair/renovate the existing Hall or move forward with new construction.

  • It will also ask about fundraising potential.

Your feedback will be essential in guiding our next steps.

Volunteer Neighborhood Watch

Another initiative from the Annual Meeting is the new Volunteer Neighborhood Watch.

  • Neighbor-driven, year-round effort

  • Community divided into smaller “quarters” with volunteer watch leaders

  • A WhatsApp group may be created for quick updates

This is a great way to build connections and strengthen community spirit as we head into the winter months.

Financial Update

The Board approved a motion to allow the Treasurer (Mary Meehan) to put CCHOA funds into a Money Market account earning 4% interest as income and budgeting warrants. This ensures our funds are working for us while remaining accessible for projects and ongoing expenses.

In a related item, the CCHOA’s 501c3 status has been approved, and the documentation is attached, for your records.

In Other Important News for the Community

  • Creek Bank Work – (See photo below) Restoration is underway just below the old Bathtub. North Fork cleanup is moving quickly, and South Fork progress is well underway too.

  • Disaster Relief Fair – (See infographic below) Scheduled for Sept. 11 in Pensacola. Previous fairs have been very well attended and provide valuable resources for neighbors.

With Gratitude

We are grateful for everyone’s involvement—whether through volunteering, attending meetings, or simply supporting your neighbors. Cattail has always thrived on shared responsibility, and these efforts show what we can accomplish together.

Warm regards,
Worth Weller
