Greetings, friends and neighbors! As promised, here is a quick wrap-up of activities that your board of directors has been involved with over the past month, along with a few other items of interest in the community.

The Building Committee, headed by Dennice Stone, has gathered a great deal of information from contractors, including ideas and rough estimates for a variety of options for the Hall as well as potential sources of grant money. Please watch for a survey to be sent out in the coming days. It will present much of this new information and ask for your opinions on several related issues.

Meanwhile, the volunteer “Mountain Watch” program is gathering steam. Maps and related information will be going out soon.

In addition, I have attached our 501(c)(3) letter, so that any of you who might want to make a donation before the end of the year can reference this letter for your taxes.

Oh, speaking of the tax-exempt certification, dues of $75.00 for 2025-2026 are now due, and should be paid as soon as possible. Please remit your payment and any change or correction in your address, telephone number, or e-mail address c/o Mary Meehan, 508 Cold Spring Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714. Checks should be made out to “Cattail Creek Homeowners’ Association.”

Don’t forget that the Boones are hosting a big event on Friday, October 3, at 5 PM to celebrate the reopening of David’s Woodcarving Museum. There will be food and music!

Equally fun, Bob Wilson is hosting an event at the Fire Station on Saturday, October 11, to share and swap memories about the old BB Wilson Store. I’ve included screen captures from Facebook for both events.
